I've noticed that several of the members in this forum is here (almost) solely to get answers to their questions about the rules, and I find a lot of post that could have been answered by the questioner if he/she knew were to look.

I thought I could list some tricks that I use when looking for answers and rulings:

1: Read the current rules again.
While the rules aren't on par with the complexity of the ASL 2nd ED, they actually have a few things to teach you.

2: Check the newest FAQ, or perhaps the older one.
These include a lot of questions that other players have asked before, chances are that the answer you're looking for has already made it to the FAQ.

3: Check the current threads in the rules forum.
If you got a question about move and shoot as a free action, try looking for treads that got some of these "buzzwords" in the title. Note; There are rules/questions in this game that is heavily debated, thus some of the answers to a thread might be a personal opinion/interpretation and not the official one. Look for answers from Piranha for the official answer/interpretation. There's also some other members on this board who's opinion is in (my) high regard. Look for high post count and well written answers (with links etc)

4: Search the forum for older threads.
It's almost imperative that you use the Advanced search. This gives you the opportunity to search in only one forum (like rules) and for post from a specific member (like Piranha) This will reduce the search time and considerably reduce the number of posts that you need to browse through. You can use as many keywords you like, try to experiment with several version of the search if you don't succeed at first.
Apply trick number 3 to the threads and you'll probably find something useful.

5: Use the "Ctrl + F" function to search in the document/thread.
If you got a long thread, typing "Piranha" in the new search bar (I use Firefox and get a bar on the bottom of the screen, your browser may vary) will take you to the first post he have made, usually with some kind of answer.

6: Don't be afraid to ask if you can't find your answer!
Here are my thoughts on posting a question in the rules forum:

  • Post a concise question, and define what kind of answer your looking for.
This will not only help the people that'll answer your questions now, but will also help those that search for answers later. (via the search function)
  • If you got several questions, list them all in one post.
There's no need to post 5 threads to get some answers.
  • Be sure to use your best English.
I'm not saying that you have to have all the grammar correct, but I've seen a question so indecipherable that it got these in reply:
